Hi, I’m Jennifer Bergman. I was born in New Jersey and grew up in Georgia, and for as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to work that supports parents and families. I’ve been married to my husband for 19 years, and we have three children who are now 26, 17, and 11. Each of their feeding experiences shaped the path that eventually led me into lactation and perinatal mental health work.

I became a mother as a teenager and wanted to breastfeed, but I didn’t have the support or information I needed. When my daughter was born nine years later, I had spent years learning about pregnancy, birth, and lactation, and I was able to breastfeed her for a full year. My youngest and I went on to have a wonderful two-and-a-half-year breastfeeding relationship. That experience made it clear that this was more than a personal interest, it was the work I was meant to do.

I began my Lactation career as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor with WIC in 2014, where I discovered how meaningful it is to sit with families, listen to their stories, and support their goals. I became a Certified Lactation Counselor and then an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2018. Since then, I’ve worked in private practice, hospitals, community programs, and virtual care, giving me a broad understanding of the unique challenges families face.

My work has continued to grow alongside the needs I’ve seen in the families I serve. I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, and I hold a Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) certification. I’m also a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on maternal mental health. This training allows me to support the emotional, psychological, and relational aspects of the perinatal period in addition to the clinical feeding concerns that often show up during pregnancy and the first year.

My approach blends evidence-based lactation care with a strong mental-health perspective. I support parents through feeding challenges, postpartum transitions, mood and anxiety concerns, grief and loss, early bonding, and the day-to-day realities of life with a new baby. I believe every family deserves compassionate, informed care that honors both the parent’s well-being and the baby’s needs.

I’m grateful for the journey that brought me to this work, and I look forward to helping you and your family find confidence and support during this important season of life.
